I need to publicly congratulate Diarmuid for a superior play at the PTQ for New Orleans in Waterford on August 18th. Excuse me if I have some of the details wrong. The name of his opponent escapes me, it might have been Dalton, but I don't know. Anyway, it was 1-1 in the round, and the time runs out. As I (the floor judge) call "TIME ON THE ROUND! ACTIVE PLAYER FINISH HIS TURN, THEN TAKE FIVE ADDITIONAL TURNS!" (someone echoed me once — is it that we judges are all totally alike?), it's Diarmuid's turn; Diarmuid is safe on about 15, and his opponent is on 6. Diarmuid attacks on his turn with a 2-power creature (possibly Gaea's Skyfolk, can't remember), and takes some hits in return. He attacks again (extra turn 2) — opponent on 2. It goes into turn 3. Opponent destroys Diarmuid's creature, and plays one of his own. Turn 4. Diarmuid plays a Spiritmonger ("for no reason"). Opponent counters it with Dromar's Charm. Diarmuid starts laughing. Everyone behind him starts laughing. Diarmuid taps UUB and casts Undermine! The whole area erupts into laughter (except for Diarmuid's opponent) and Ralph (head judge) needs to restore order.
